April has been a spectacular month this year and our guests have experienced some wonderful highlights.
Guests were piped aboard our ships for the first cruise of the season and the piper continued to play as the Glen Massan, Glen Tarsan and Glen Etive left the Holy Loch to cruise down the Clyde to their first anchorage. That evening was spent at anchor in Loch Riddon before cruising through the Kyles of Bute and down Kilbrannan Sound. There was an over night stay in Campbeltown Loch and guests had the opportunity to go ashore and visit Springbank Distillery. The next day was a glorious sunny day and the boats rounded the infamous 'Mull of Kintyre'.
The pretty village of Tayvallich provided another overnight anchorage where guests on the Glen Etive discovered they knew one of the local fishermen who was persuaded to part with his catch for the day. Chef Gordon then rustled up his signature dish 'Na Mara' (Gaelic for 'of the sea'), which proved very popular with all the guests.
This year all three Majestic Line boats sailed through the Cuan Sound together for the first time.
Guests on all three boats have seen dolphins. Pictured here are dolphins playing on the bow wave of Glen Massan on Loch Spelve.
A minke whale came alongside Glen Etive near Skye. The whale stayed in the waters round the boat for over 45 minutes to the delight of passengers on board.
The waters off Skye were also the back drop to the first puffin sightings of the season and we look forward to sharing more puffin photos with you as the season progresses.
The crew on Glen Etive landed the first Majestic Line lobster of the 2019 season - caught off Canna.
The wonderful weather has ensured that there have been plenty of beautiful sunsets this month. April truly is a fabulous month for cruising in Scotland with the Majestic Line!
