Skye and the Small Isles - Glen Etive
Julia North
Huge thanks to the crew of the Glen Etive - Skipper Peter, Engineer Arran, Bosun Gill and Chef extraordinaire Gordon. Fellow guests and I had an amazing week cruising up the Sound of Sleat along the eastern coast of Skye and on to Plockton. This was during the first week in October so the weather was a little mixed at times, but thanks to Peter’s skill, experience and perseverance we made a long way north. We were rewarded with the cruise of a lifetime and time in hand to explore the beautiful islands of Rum and Muck in stunning sunshine before returning with a stopover in lovely Tobermory. This was my second cruise in 2021 - I was hooked after the first one, and this really hit the spot! The customer care with Majestic Line is exceptional, every detail and need is thought of and guests and superbly looked after from first booking enquiry to stepping off the boat and onwards in Oban. I love the life on board and being at sea or anchor. The wonderful crew and ship feel like family and home. A special mention goes to Arran the engineer who was new to cruising and really went the extra mile in what must have been a tough first week. He really cracked the job, but was also just lovely with the guests and crew, he was a real pleasure to cruise with. Highlights are hard to pick out, not least of all exceptional food and always with stunning scenery, but exploring the hills and woods around Plockton and walking across the Island of Muck to Ghallanach Beach on sunny days were adventures I’ll always remember, not to mention several visits from dolphins! But none of this would have been possible without the wonderful care and company of our great crew. Heartfelt thanks to you all - I’m really looking forward to cruising with you again very soon. Julia
