Accessing our boats comfortably
We are committed to ensuring all guests, including those with hidden disabilities have a comfortable and enjoyable experience while onboard our small ship cruises. While we strive to accommodate diverse needs and preferences, we regret that we cannot accept wheelchair or rollator users due to the age, character, and design of our vessels, in a safe or operationally feasible way. We are happy to discuss any special requirements you may have and provide assistance where possible. Please find below some accessibility features and considerations for coming aboard.
Pre-Cruise
- Please inform us of any special requirements you may have at the time of booking
- We are always available to discuss any concerns you may have regarding accessibility and onboard facilities
- We encourage guests with hidden disabilities to reach out to us in advance so we can best support them during the cruise
Boarding
- Access at the beginning and end of the cruise is usually by way of pontoon
- Your Skipper will provide a safety briefing at the beginning which will detail information about the vessel, safety procedures, and any other relevant information about your cruise
- You will be shown to your cabins by your crew who will inform you of any areas which may affect your ability
Accommodations
- Glen Massan and Glen Tarsan have two main deck cabins and four below-deck cabins and Glen Etive and Glen Shiel have one main deck cabin with six below deck cabins. These are booked on a first come first served basis and may be allocated to you upon request, subject to availability
- All stairs on all vessels have handrails to provide assistance. Please note the stairs to Glen Shiel cabins are steeper than those on our other vessels
- Glen Rosa has three cabins all below deck level with stairs and handrails
Dining
- Our onboard exceptional dining experience features delicious cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients
- We can accommodate most dietary requirements and food allergies. Please advise us of your specific requirements in advance via your Guest Information Sheet (sent to you 12 weeks prior to departure)
Going Ashore
- During the cruise, the tender boat is used to access the landing points. Those locations can be anything from a concrete jetty, pontoon or roadway to a rocky, grassy or gravel shoreline
- The crew is on hand to assist with getting in and out of the tender, however in the event of an emergency, they would have other duties to attend to and assistance may not be available
- There are guardrails and steps down onto the tender boat. Please see the photos here to help you
- If you have any concerns about participating in excursions or activities, please let us know.
- Some guests do prefer to stay aboard for the duration of their cruise and are perfectly welcome to do so
- You can also find out more information about going ashore here
Please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the crew if you require assistance or have concerns during your cruise. We are committed to ensuring all guests feel welcome, comfortable, and supported throughout their cruise with us. We look forward to welcoming you aboard The Majestic Line.
